Week 13 of Pregnancy

Baby's growth

The neck is starting to develop. The face is wide and the eyes are still widely separated. The fetal kidneys begin to produce urine that passes into the amniotic fluid.

Weight: 3/4 ounce / Size: 3 inches

Changes in mother

If it is difficult to digest three heavy meals a day, try eating smaller amounts more often. Eat sitting down at the table, slowly and chew your food well. Clothing may be tight at the waist and chest. Try loose shirts and skirts or pants with elastic bands.

It's good you know...

By the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, your placenta has developed and is providing your baby with oxygen, nutrients and waste disposal. The placenta also produces the hormones, which help maintain the pregnancy. If you have cravings for after-hours meals, you may want to eat crackers or drink fluids. However, you can reward yourself from time to time for sticking to your exercise routine or medical advice with some chocolate snacks.
